Webinar and Broadcasting Live FAQ

BASICS

WHAT IS A WEBINAR?

Webinars are interactive, educational seminars presented via the Internet. All you need is an Internet connection and your computer speakers to join the webinar for live or on-demand sessions. Audio, video, slide presentation, polling questions and Q&A sessions give attendees an interactive communication experience, much like that of a physical face-to-face event.

WHAT IS BROADCASTING LIVE?

Broadcasting Live is an online extension of a physical event, allowing both general and breakout sessions to be streamed as a live webinar via the Internet. Streamed events allow you to view select sessions live, download product supplier collateral, ask questions to expert speakers and network with industry peers without leaving your desk! These webinars are also available on-demand.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LIVE WEBINAR AND AN ON-DEMAND?

The live webinar is only available at the time and date noted, during which you will be able to ask questions of the presenter and chat with other attendees. A recording of this live presentation (on-demand) is then archived and posted on the publication's website and bnpevents.com, for 12 months, to view at your convenience. Just login like you would on the live day to view.

TECHNICAL

WHAT SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ARE NEEDED TO VIEW EVENT?

You will only need a computer with an Internet connection and speakers. Test your system to make sure you have all requirements.

WHY AM I GETTING A “USER ALREADY LOGGED IN” ERROR MESSAGE?

The most likely cause of this is a second attempt to login after a pop-up or script blocker has prevented the event window from opening. Please wait up to 1 minute then try logging in again. For other possible resolutions, please go here and select the browser you’re using at the bottom of the page.

THE SYSTEM CHECK IS STUCK ON PORT CONNECTIVITY

If you are experiencing problems with port connectivity, it may be due to the configuration of your company's network. Certain firewall configurations can prevent the port connectivity from functioning properly. Please run the port connectivity test to make sure you are passing at least one test. If you continue to have port connectivity issues, contact your network administrator.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE COMPUTER SPEAKERS? IS THERE A NUMBER I CAN CALL?

Unfortunately, there is no phone number to listen to BNP Media webinars. However, since you can access this event wherever you have an Internet connection, you will be able to login and view the event from any computer with the proper requirements.

WHAT IF I NEED HELP DURING THE EVENT?

A technical help link will be available within the event or you can enter a question in the "chat/question" box. You can also email webinars@bnpmedia.com where someone will be able to assist you during the event.

REGISTRATION

WHAT IS THE COST TO REGISTER?

Most are FREE. All you have to do is complete the registration fields and wait for the live event. Few events may have a registration fee, but this will be noted on the registration page for the event and costs will vary per event.

WHAT IF I DIDN'T RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL?

You may need to add the domain @theonlinexpo.com to your safe sender's list. Please do so, and then check your junk and spam email for confirmation. If you still do not see it, email webinars@bnpmedia.com with the webinar title in the subject line.

VIEWING

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I LOGIN TO THE LIVE WEBINAR OR EVENT?

The registration page and login page are all located at the same web address. If you haven't bookmarked this page you can find it on the publication's website or in the confirmation email. The event will open 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. We suggest you login at this time to ensure computer compatibility. You will see “This event will open on [date] at [time]” when you login any time before this. You can also test your system now.

DO I NEED A PASSWORD TO LOGIN TO AN EVENT?

No, most of our events only require an email address at login.

WHAT IF I REGISTERED BUT, DUE TO SCHEDULING CONFLICTS, I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND THE LIVE EVENT?

The webinar archive will be available for viewing for 12 months. Within 48 hours of the live event, you will receive an email that the archive is available and can be found at the same web address as the live event. For Broadcasting Live events, archive periods are different for each event, ranging from 3-12 months. Please check the particular event for details.

HOW DO I SUBMIT QUESTIONS TO THE PRESENTERS?

While viewing the webinar, there will be a place to type your question. Once submitted, the presenters will address audience questions during the Q&A session. If time runs out and your question does not get answered, every effort will be made to follow-up in an email after the webinar.

HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD A COPY OF THE WEBINAR?

The webinar archive is available for 12 months from the date of the live event. During that time, you can login and view the webinar and a copy of the slide presentation as many times as you like. Unfortunately, there is no option to download the entire webinar at this time.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

DOES THE WEBINAR OFFER CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS?

Some of our webinars offer continuing education units (CEUs) and certificates. If a webinar is not CEU approved, we can provide you with proof of attendance if needed. At the beginning of the webinar, the type of credit will be specified. Please visit the Continuing Education Center for a list of CEU approved webinars.

HOW DO I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION?

To receive a certificate of completion, you must view the entire webinar, complete the quiz, and pass with an 80% or better. A certificate of completion will be available for immediate download following the quiz.

HOW IS MY CREDIT REPORTED?

If you are an AIA member and you provided a valid AIA member number on your CE Center account, your credit will be reported directly to the AIA for you. All others must self-report to their state board or organization.

CAN A GROUP WATCH THE WEBINAR AND ALL RECEIVE CREDIT?

Yes, a group can watch the webinar and all receive credit. However, each individual must complete and pass the quiz with an 80% or better in order to receive a certificate of completion and AIA credit. For non-AIA members, please submit the event to your state licensing board. It is up to each individual to verify that a given course is approved.

CAN I EARN CREDIT FROM WATCHING THE ON-DEMAND VERSION OF A WEBINAR?

Yes, it is exactly the same as the live version.

WHY ISN'T MY CREDIT SHOWING UP ON MY AIA TRANSCRIPT?

You may not have passed the quiz with an 80% or better or supplied a valid AIA member number. If neither of these issues are the problem, you will have to follow up with AIA directly to find out the status. Please keep in mind, credit can take up to 4 weeks to appear on your transcript. If you need further assistance, please email ceu@bnpmedia.com.
