Food in Pouches - a Highlight of the 2016 Forum
The Global Pouch Forum returned to Miami in June and was bigger and better than ever. This year’s agenda spotlighted keynote speakers from two of the largest food companies in the world—General Mills and Campbell Soup.
Food is by far the largest market for flexible packaging and pouches are growing rapidly in the U.S. and throughout the world. Stand-up pouches alone are a $2 billion business in the U.S. and predicted to grow 6.5% a year to 2020, according to the Freedonia Group.
The program featured a total of 15 sessions over the 1 ½ day conference, including snack, produce, dairy and pet food makers. Suppliers were well-represented in sessions about machinery and value-added features.
In addition TAPPI PLACE co-located once again with Global Pouch Forum and held a pre-conference workshop on stand-up pouches. They provided an in-depth look into pouch-making technologies with speakers from the converting side of the industry.
The Forum provides plenty of networking opportunities including the exhibition and networking reception featuring more than 80 table-top exhibitors.
