Workshop Overview
Overview:
Following the keynote presentation on the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and its impact on the commercial building industry, a workshop will serve to engage the attendees in discussion about how this significant legislation will manifest itself in buildings and building systems. In each of two sessions, an owner will start the discussion by sharing their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations on building automation and controls, and how they contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability. The two sessions will be focused as follows:
- Schools & Government
- Commercial/Office
After the owner presentations, participants will break into small groups and discuss the following question(s):
Based on recently enacted legislation and industry developments, what plans would you make for your portfolio of buildings and why?
- In the next 6 months?
- In the next 1 to 2 years?
- In the next 5 years?
As examples, plans may include:
- New construction with intelligent building technologies
- Assessment and benchmarking of existing buildings
- Retrofit of existing buildings with new systems, such as building automation, lighting control, etc.
- Master planning
- Commissioning or re-commissioning of systems and/or buildings
