Building Automation 2007 Conference

2008 Conference Schedule
8:00-9:00AM Continental Breakfast/ Registration

DAY 1

9:00-10:00am Keynote: Impact of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007
This recently passed Energy Information and Security Act not only covers some well publicized sections (requirements for transition to compact fluorescent lights), it also contains a number of areas related to Commercial Buildings. This includes new requirements for energy efficiency in federal buildings, programs for schools and the establishment of a group focused on the delivery of Net Zero Energy Commercial Buildings. The Alliance to Save Energy was instrumental in helping to form and guide many elements of the bill. Jeff Harris will explain the key elements of the bill and how it is expected to impact your current and future projects.
10:00 - 10:15
Break

10:15 - 11:45 Schools & Government Commercial/Office
Workshop on intelligent buildings and sustainability by market sector illustrate some real intelligent building projects and how they contribute to and deliver on sustainability, and how they might plan for the future.
11:45am-1:00pm Lunch
Track 1: Technology Process Programs and Planning
1:00 - 2:30pm Emerging Technology
New technologies offer great potential for delivering lower cost, higher performance projects. This session looks at several promising new technologies, including case studies and a look at what's coming next.
Programs
Want to know the latest developments on industry programs and rating systems? This session provides updates on industry programs as well as on green building and intelligent building rating systems.
2:30-2:45pm Break
2:45 - 4:15pm Lighting Control Benchmarking, Assessing, and Improving Performance
Lighting automation is required by most commercial energy codes, with multiple strategies available to achieve energy savings. And, daylighting control systems contributes to further energy savings and offer increased occupant comfort. This session features experts in both automatic lighting controls as well as daylighting controls who will discuss code compliance, technologies, application and integration with building automation systems. How is intelligence in buildings measured and benchmarked? This session examines some of the processes used to benchmark, assess, and improve building performance, and discusses approaches that support intelligent and sustainable building projects.
4:30pm Networking Reception/Table Top Displays Open
6:00pm Table Top Displays Close

Day 2

8-9am Continental Breakfast/ Registration
9:00 - 10:30am Energy and Demand Response
Description: Facilities are becoming increasingly connected to utilities, and interest in renewable energy options continues to rise. Addressing the increasing complexity of energy options and managing energy in real time are growing challenges. This session will look at how you can better plan for and deal with these changes and how new initiatives will help.
10:45 - 12:00pm Technology Process, Programs, and Planning
The Role of Controls in Green and Sustainable Buildings
Descrition: Green buildings is more than a concept, it's a reality. One of the key strategies for implementing a perpetually green building is redefining the position of the building automation system and specifically the control system. Knowing when and how to control can significantly impact the costs and ROI over the life of the building. Considering applying for LEED certification? Do you know the impact of the BMS system on your qualification plan? This session will discuss the value of controls in going green.
Maintaining Building Intelligence
Description: Intelligent maintenance practices and processes are critical to maintaining an intelligent building. This session examines processes and tools available to assist owners and operators in their efforts to assess building intelligence, and to keep their intelligent buildings running at optimum levels of performance.
12pm- 1pm Lunch
1pm-2:30pm Industry Case Studies
Learning from others is one of the best ways of adopting new concepts. Intelligent Building Controls is no exception. This session will present several case studies of how others have approached their campus or enterprise and have leveraged the benefits of good system design and specifications.
Master Planning – The Value of a Whole Building Approach to Automation
A key to any successful energy efficiency program requires evaluating short term and long term objectives. This session will explore the value of master planning when considering energy efficiency programs and the control systems that are involved in a whole building automation design.
2:30pm End of Conference
