Water Sustainability - Water Reuse Strategies
This seminar will review the benefits and challenges of implementing various water re-use strategies, focused on building HVAC and Plumbing systems. The seminar will also define the net zero water concept and strategies for achieving a net zero water condition at a site through various case studies. Four sources will be described: Sub-surface Water, Rainwater, Gray-water and Black-water. Public policy (codes, etc.) changes required to more readily integrate these strategies into standard building design will be discussed. Case study information from actual and proposed water re-use projects will be presented, including a summary review of the financial benefits associated with incorporating these strategies. The technological advances that have helped such systems to readily be used will be shared along with the water quality considerations associated with alternative water sources and potential end uses. Taking advantage of the availability of “wasted water” by the systems designer is based on whether they are aware of the critical elements that define successful system design, an overview of such design elements will be part of this seminar.
