James L. Hoff, DBA Research Director Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing

James L. Hoff, DBA is an experienced executive and researcher in the building materials industry, retiring as vice president of technology and product development for Firestone Building Products after 22 years of service. Dr. Hoff currently serves as research director for the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing and president of TEGNOS Research, Inc., an organization focused on advancing research in the building envelope industry. He also serves as a board member of the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI) Foundation and is a past Chairman of the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association (PIMA) and the EPDM Roofing Association (ERA).

Dr. Hoff has written extensively about the technology of modern roofing systems, including life cycle assessment methods, energy efficiency, and recycling strategies. Recent publications by Dr. Hoff on sustainable roofing practice include "The Expanding Role of the Roof in a Sustainable World," presented at the 2007 EE Global Forum, "Life Cycle Assessment and the LEED^® Green Building Rating SystemT" presented at the 2008 Roof Consultants Institute Annual Convention, and "The Greening of the Rooftop: How the Roofing Industry Can Contribute to Sustainable Construction," presented at Ecobuild Fall 2008. He holds undergraduate degrees in architectural design and industrial psychology, as well as a masters and doctorate in management science.
