Presentation Description Mass Flux as a Remedy Performance Measure
Mass flux measurements have been identified in EPA and ITRC documents as an appropriate method for monitoring remedy performance. As an estimation of contaminant mass reduction EPA recommended using transects to calculate mass loss and attenuation rates for MNA remedies. Mass discharge or flux from a source has been identified by EPA and separately by the ITRC as an intermediate performance goal when addressing DNAPL sites. This presentation will identify regulatory issues which need to be addressed prior to adapting mass flux as a performance measure as well as provide site examples.
