Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the POB eNews...
Register Today for the 2006 Rendezvous: Surveying the Wachovia Tract on September 14-16!
The Wachovia Tract, consisting of more than 98,000 acres of land, was originally discovered by the Moravian Church in the early 1750s. Today, the tract represents half of North Carolina's Forsyth County and is part of present day Winston-Salem. To learn more about the history of the Wachovia tract, click HERE.
The Surveyors Historical Society and the North Carolina Society of Surveyors Inc. are hosting a historical study of the early Moravian surveys in North Carolina. The event will be held on September 14-16 in Winston-Salem, N.C., and includes lectures by area experts, colonial surveying demonstrations, tours of historic sites, an antiques road show, swap meets and appraisals.
For more information and a complete agenda of the 2006 Rendezvous, E-mail ncss@earthlink.net or call 919/833-9808. To register before the September 1 deadline, click to www.ncsurveyors.com.
